US Chess: Free Inaugural Girls Chess Festival Brings Young Players Together

FROM OUR STUDENTS

“[The first inaugural Girls’ Chess Festival] was an amazing event and I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to go again next year! Everything was amazing and the lesson, games, raffles, puzzles, and the food was amazing. It’s an event where you can see your friends from other schools that play chess and it would be a fun time to hang out together too!”

— Student (Anonymous, 5th grade)

“I loved the space. I can play with more friends that are girls. I liked the lessons too.”

— Solaris Wang, Student (4th grade)

FROM OUR COMMUNITY

“When girls are greatly outnumbered by boys (virtually all tournaments nowadays), I think they inherently feel like they don't belong or feel alienated. But events like yours take that stress away and make all the girls feel at home.”

— George Wang, Parent

“I love seeing students encouraging the next generation of grandmasters in a warm and open environment.”

— Joseph Wang, Parent

They are very kind teachers, and my daughter in 1st grade really enjoys attending their class every week!

— Marie Taka, Parent

“Iris and Lisa are impressive young women who have thoroughly stimulated our 9-year-old daughter’s interest in chess and taught her so much in just a few months.”

— Parent (Anonymous)

“Luna absolutely loves her chess class. Her teacher Lisa is incredibly patient and explains concepts in such a clear and engaging way. I’ve seen so much growth in Luna’s confidence and skills, and she stays fully engaged the entire time. We’re truly grateful for such a positive and supportive learning environment.”

— Denisse Beck, Parent

My daughter really liked the experience and has asked to go back!

— Yiling Chen, Parent

“My son is 4 years old and has been attending regularly, and I’ve truly seen tremendous improvement in his chess skills. He went from learning how the pieces move to confidently playing full games. The instructors are incredibly patient, encouraging, and skilled at teaching strategy in a way that young children can understand and enjoy.

We are so grateful for this program and the positive impact it has had on my son. It has strengthened his love for chess while also helping him develop important skills like focus, patience, and critical thinking. It’s been wonderful to watch him sit down and stay engaged in such a fun and challenging game for longer periods of time. We highly recommend this program to other families looking to introduce their children to chess in a supportive and engaging environment.”
